Thank you to everyone who purchased any of my books last week, and to the people who preordered or picked up War of Souls. I've been happy with the response so far. But there is one thing I want to mention, and this goes against the generally accepted advice for authors. I want to talk about a review. Now is where other authors leap up and say, "No! Don't do iiiiiitttttt" and attempt to dogpile me. But honestly, this was the most amazing review I've ever received and it was heartfelt. I just want to address a few things it rightfully pointed out. I'm not sure if this person will ever read this post, but I'm just going to put this out there in case they do or anyone else wonders what they are talking about.
Summary of below if you don't want spoilers: If you have "F1" under the disclaimer on page 2 of the book, it's an outdated copy, and if you delete and redownload from Amazon, the new version should load (newest is "F.2(incon)"). It just fixes a few mistakes and adds maybe 2 more pages worth of story/text. *********************THERE ARE SPOILERS FOR THE LAST BOOK BELOW*************************************************************** So in War of Souls, there's a guy named Darragh. Who IS Darragh? He's a new guy that just appeared in this book who has never been in any previous books, but he sure resembles Varulf, the previous leader of Clan Cen'Ful. Well, turns out they are the same person. How the hell did this slip through QA? Well, QA is me and one other person (my editor, who cuts me sweet deals and can't be expected to remember the name of a character I wrote in 2012). However, I have badly written notes to myself to help ME remember who people are, what they look like, etc., and my editor doesn't always have that. So sometimes I forget the name of a character or some other fact. I couldn't remember Varulf's name. I looked at my notes, and it said leader of Clan Cen'Ful was Darragh. Another note verified it, so I shrugged and that was his name. How could this be? Originally, in my first book, that WAS his name. For the whole book, even the final version (semi final). I sent the book to my editor and she said there were sure a lot of people with D in their names. Dragos Dalca, Darragh, etc. Sometimes it got confusing. She said generally you don't want too many characters with similarish names. So Darragh became Varulf. Except I apparently didn't change my notes. So after years of not writing in this series I went to check my notes and here comes Darragh to confuse everyone. This reader also pointed out Varulf is essentially the second strongest werewolf in modern history, only second to Sverre (eventually). He had a poor showing for being so strong. Why? I wasn't sure if focusing too much on him would distract from the other personal battles going on between main characters. Hmm, what to do? Well, some might say this is cheating, but one of the benefits of being the sole proprietor of my one-man company and the only author of a series is if I don't like something or someone says I screwed up, I can just sit my ass back in my chair and fix it. So, I did. The War of Souls series now has some additional edits to both final battles (particularly Varulf), as well as the prologue to help remedy some injustices (and just straight up dumbass mistakes like not naming a main character correctly). I think Amazon will automatically push this edit out to any kindles (maybe...you might have to delete the old download first). There is also a new print version out. I'm not sure if these are live or not, because Amazon says it can take up to 36 hours for a book to get through their review process, so these should go live by Sunday or Monday at the latest. Sometimes they go out early. If it says "F.2(incon)" under the disclaimer on page 2, it is the most recent version. To the person who left that amazing review, I *extremely* appreciate it. I read all of my reviews, and if I see a mistake or someone points out something in the story they didn't like, I do take it into consideration. I'm sorry that those slipped through and distracted from the finale of the series, but I'm so glad you still enjoyed it.
